The AWARE Society is a non-profit organization with a volunteer Board of Directors. Mission Statement AWARE specializes in facilitating employment services responsive to individual and community needs. The New Westminster office also provides Wage Subsidy programs for EI eligible clients, as well as for youth who are not in receipt of assistance. Currently we provide services through offices in New Westminster, Surrey, and Cloverdale. It closed in 1999. That office subsequently moved to Coquitiam and for eighteen years provided services to the Tri-city area. In April of 1980, and one year later, an office was opened in Surrey, an office opened in Port Coquitiam. In November 1976, funded by the Federal Government Outreach Program, the AWARE Society opened the first office with a staff of three on 6th Street in New Westminster. Over the years, however, services have been extended to include both men and women. AWARE's original mandate was to provide special employment counselling services to women with multiple employment barriers. We are client focused and resourceful at Assisting With Awareness Regarding Employment.
